Cookie & Data Storage Policy

Last Updated: March 22, 2026

This page explains how CieloWeb Atlas ("we", "us", "our") uses browser storage technologies. We believe in transparency and minimizing data collection.

1. We Don't Use Traditional Cookies

CieloWeb Atlas does not use traditional HTTP cookies for tracking, advertising, or user identification. Our analytics provider, Vercel Analytics, is also cookie-free and designed to be privacy-respecting.

2. How We Use Local Storage

Instead of cookies, we use your browser's Local Storage. This is a standard web technology that allows a website or application to store data locally on your computer. Unlike cookies, data in Local Storage is not automatically sent to our servers with every request. It stays on your machine and is only accessed by the application scripts running in your browser.

3. What We Store Locally

We use Local Storage to save your preferences and settings to enhance your experience with the Service. This includes:

  • Layer Preferences: Which data layers you have enabled or disabled.
  • Map Configuration: Your chosen map type (e.g., 3D, 2D), imagery provider, and other visual settings.
  • User-Provided API Keys: If you provide your own API keys for services like Google Maps or Bing Maps, they are stored here so you don't have to re-enter them on every visit. These keys never leave your browser and are not sent to our servers.
  • Search History: A list of your recent searches to provide quick access.
  • UI State: The open/closed state of sidebars and panels to remember your layout.

This data is strictly for functional purposes to provide a consistent and personalized experience. We do not use it to track you across other websites.

4. Third-Party Services

Please be aware that some third-party data sources or embedded content that you access through the Service may set their own cookies or use their own storage mechanisms. We do not have control over the practices of these services. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy and cookie policies for more information.

5. Your Control and Choices

You have full control over the data stored by CieloWeb Atlas in your browser. You can clear this data at any time through your browser's settings. This is typically found under "Privacy and Security" → "Clear Browsing Data" → "Cookies and other site data" or "Cached images and files". Clearing site data will reset all your preferences and log you out of any services you've configured with API keys.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
