CieloWeb Atlas ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our application (the "Service"). Your use of the Service constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Our philosophy is to collect as little information as possible. We do not require user accounts and do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or physical address.
1.1. Non-Personal Information
Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to gather anonymous usage statistics. This service does not use cookies and does not collect any personal data or personally identifiable information. It helps us measure traffic, understand how users interact with the Service (e.g., which layers are popular), and improve the application's performance and features.
1.2. User-Provided Information
API Keys: If you choose to provide your own API keys for third-party services (like Google Maps or NASA FIRMS), these keys are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage. They are never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers. They are sent directly from your browser to the respective third-party service as needed for data fetching. We do not have access to these keys.
Imported Data: If you use the GeoJSON import feature, the data you provide is processed entirely within your browser. It is not uploaded to our servers.
2. How We Use Information
The limited, non-personal information we handle is used for the following purposes:
- To operate, maintain, and provide the core functionality of the Service.
- To improve and optimize the Service by analyzing aggregate usage patterns and performance metrics.
- To enable functionality that relies on third-party data sources, using API keys you provide locally.
- To diagnose and fix technical issues.
3. Data Storage and Security
All user-specific settings, including API keys, layer preferences, and search history, are stored locally in your browser's Local Storage. We implement reasonable measures to help protect your information, but please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's cache and site data for CieloWeb Atlas.
4. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with various third-party data providers (e.g., OpenSky Network, NASA FIRMS, etc.). When you use layers that require these services, your browser may make requests directly to them. These services are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your information under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. Since we do not collect personal information, these rights are primarily exercised through your browser's settings. You have the right to:
- Access and clear any data stored by our Service in your browser's Local Storage.
- Opt-out of analytics by using browser extensions that block Vercel Analytics.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received information from a user under 13, we will take steps to remove that information from our systems.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
